Opened in 1881 on the site of Cooke's Royal Amphitheatre of Arts, both Richard Burton and Judi Dench made their professional stage debuts at the Royal Court Liverpool.

Located on Roe Street, the 1,186 capacity nautical themed Art Deco style building is celebrated for debuting productions - mainly comedy dramas, plays, musicals and pantomimes with a Liverpool theme - with a 150 seat Studio space in the basement welcoming smaller theatre productions and stand-up comedy.
