The Vaselines

The Vaselines have long been celebrated by musicians and music enthusiasts across genres and across the globe, including super-fan Kurt Cobain, and came to define the sly wit and irresistible pop hooks of the 80's Scottish indie scene.

Formed in Glasgow in 1986, they split up before their debut album was released, but were introduced to a wider audience when Cobain declared them to be his "favourite songwriters in the world" and Nirvana recorded their own cover versions of The Vaselines classics "Molly’s Lips", "Jesus Doesn’t Want Me For A Sunbeam" and "Son Of A Gun".

They reformed in 2008 and subsequently recorded two more albums with Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee remaining principal members.
